The rules of blue color in home design

Hi all,

I apologize for a long absence on my blog. The life has been truly and incredibly busy for us. In short, we have accomplished tons of projects around the house and are in the final stage of deciding on the grand bath reno, on which I will post later. But for now, I can't wait to share our work progress and design ideas for the house.

After a long planning and color coordination of rooms in the house, I am finally set on the best color combo for the dining room... a navy blue room. When selecting colors for all rooms I had to make sure we are continuing a uniform color scheme, yet giving every room its own identity... in other words, one common color denominator in the house is a gray and white combo in every room, but we added additional contrasting color to every room to differentiate it and give an additional personality. So this leads me to my post about the dining room, which in my mind needed to be formal and elegant to host multiple dinner parties for family and friends.

A navy blue color goes perfectly with my grey walls and white molding, and to warm up otherwise cool color combination, I would incorporate gold accessories, antique mirrors, and wood.  Currently we have completed a third of the project: put up lighting fixture and curtains, as well as purchased the Moraccan lattice rug from the RugUSA, so I am only sharing the inspiration board of our dining room at this time.

Clockwise: Antique Wall Mirror (DIY project), West Elm Velvet Curtain in Navy, Formal Light Fixture from Overstock, ZGallerie Vase in Gold, Ballard Wood Table, Lattice Rug in Navy from RugUSA, Ballard Formal Dining Chair
Stay tuned for more house reno ideas and DIY projects.
